FOUND FAMILY
This was a personal project, with the intention of testing new skills and approach of my style. The characters portrayed are from The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab. The scene is set at the woods of White London, it's a sweet and calm moment between the 3 of them.

For the base sketch (frame 1) I wanted to really focus on the characters, so in order to do that I kept the surroundings very simple.

This is the time I play around with the gradient map, which gives me a brief idea for the lighting (frame 3). Then I proceed to add the base colors (frame 4), which are usually done with a soft build up brush.

At this stage i am refining the render and adding details as i move forward with the piece (frame 6). There is a subtle change of lighting (frame 7) which will create more focus on the characters.

In the finished version we see the altered lighting, centering the characters even more. The light tool was crucial to make this piece work and give off the effect I wanted.
